A panel schedule tells the supplier what to make; a connection detail tells the installer how the panels become an assembly. Keep both documents coordinated. A change to panel thickness, facing or opening position can also change the edge treatment, fixing or seal arrangement.
Give each connection a detail reference
Mark board joints, corners, bases, heads, openings and service penetrations on the layout. Link each to a detail showing the panel construction and adjacent support. Identify which components are supplied with the panel order and which are supplied by the installation contractor.

Resolve tolerances before choosing the sequence
Compare the dimensions of the supporting structure with the panel layout and agreed tolerances. Decide how small deviations will be handled without changing the intended joint geometry. Avoid leaving the installer to trim or force-fit a panel in a way that alters the approved connection.

Use a trial assembly for unfamiliar details
For a custom arrangement, agree a representative trial connection or sample assembly before the full installation. Check fit, tool access, surface protection and the proposed inspection sequence. A trial fit is useful evidence for assembly coordination; it does not replace required testing or engineering verification.
Plan checks before concealment
- Confirm that panel references and drawing revisions match.
- Review support conditions and opening dimensions.
- Check specified edge and seal materials are available and compatible.
- Record completed connections before covering layers hide them.
- Refer any changed fixing, cut-out or joint to the responsible designer rather than improvising.
For moisture-sensitive enclosures, the panel face is only one part of the boundary. Corners, junctions and penetrations need continuous detailing appropriate to the design. Do not infer fire, water or structural performance from the core or facing name alone.
