FRP XPS sandwich panels: a supplier qualification guide

Qualify FRP-faced XPS panel offers for fabrication: skins, core, bond evidence, cut-outs, packing and the scope of technical documents.

AI-generated material illustration: FRP skins and an XPS core in a sample section. Not a product test, factory photograph or verified panel configuration.

Fabricators sourcing FRP XPS sandwich panels need a complete construction description, not just an insulation value. FRP identifies a reinforced-plastic facing; XPS identifies the foam core. Neither term specifies skin thickness, the bonded assembly, load capacity or the surface finish required for a particular project.

Download the bulk enquiry worksheet

Download the bulk enquiry worksheet (Excel .xlsx). Identify both FRP faces, the XPS core and the required documents. Attach the cutting, edge, insert and reinforcement details that apply to your requested construction.

Complete the Enquiry and Order items tabs, then email the workbook and supporting files to Tina at Banarta. Available configurations, minimum quantities, price and delivery timing are confirmed in the quotation.

The Banarta FRP-faced XPS sandwich panel is offered for insulated-panel fabrication enquiries. Vehicle-body, partition and other application requirements must be reviewed against the selected construction. Do not treat a broad application list as approval for a complete vehicle or building system.

Separate the three evidence levels

Evidence levelWhat it can help establishWhat it does not establish by itself
XPS core dataThe identified foam grade under stated test conditions.Finished-panel bending, bonding or fixing capacity.
FRP skin dataThe specified facing material and finish. The properties of every skin/core combination.
Complete panel or assembly dataThe tested construction, dimensions, supports and conditions.Other spans, joints, reinforcement layouts or applications outside that scope.

A core compression value is not a wall, roof or vehicle-body load rating. Where the design depends on bending, impact, bond performance or fixing loads, request evidence for the relevant panel construction and conditions. Ask the responsible engineer to resolve the design requirement before production approval.

Specify the FRP faces individually

Identify outside and inside skins, nominal thickness, colour, surface texture and any coating requirement. State the intended cleaning routine, moisture exposure and service conditions. If a smooth finish or a particular cleanability requirement matters, include an approved sample and the acceptance method.

Do not assume the FRP surface is food-contact approved, fire-rated, UV-stable or compatible with every cleaner. Request the applicable documents for the exact facing and use. A visually similar skin on another supplier’s website is not evidence for the proposed material.

For repeated cleaning, use the FRP face and cleaning-condition checklist to match each exposed face to the operator's cleaning process and the supplier's evidence.

Put fabrication details on the drawing

  • Finished panel length, width and total thickness, with tolerances.
  • Inside/outside orientation and any unequal skin construction.
  • Cut-outs, openings, edges and corner details.
  • Support locations, joints and the proposed fixing or bonding method.
  • Insert or reinforcement requirements, if needed, with positions and responsibility for design.

Distinguish a request for unprocessed panels from one for ready-to-assemble components. Ask the supplier to confirm which machining, reinforcement and edge operations are included. A general custom-size statement does not establish that a particular insert or processing operation is available.

Use samples for defined checks

A cross-section sample can reveal the proposed layer arrangement and help agree appearance. It cannot demonstrate every finished-panel property. Record the sample reference, drawing revision and checks it represents; list the documents or additional tests needed for unresolved requirements.

For a fabrication trial, use representative dimensions and the intended joining materials. Review edge quality, flatness, fit and the suitability of the planned processing method. Define how deviations will be reported and accepted before the full order, rather than creating criteria after delivery.

Compare supplier quotations line by line

Comparison fieldRequired answer
ConstructionMaterial and thickness of each skin, core and finished panel.
EvidenceDocument identifier, tested product, method, conditions and limitations.
ProcessingIncluded cuts, edges, inserts or other operations; drawing revision.
Quantity and costPieces and area; processing and packaging separated; quotation basis.
LogisticsPacked dimensions, handling arrangement, destination and quoted lead time.
ExceptionsSubstitutions, unavailable requirements and items outside supply scope.

Large-panel delivery needs particular care: confirm pack dimensions and the unloading route before agreeing the cutting plan. Do not assume a panel dimension fits every container, vehicle or workshop entrance. Ask for a shipment-specific packing proposal and confirm the relevant handling instructions.

Prepare an FRP panel enquiry

Send the intended application and service conditions, both skin requirements, core and overall dimensions, drawings, quantity, required evidence and destination. Banarta can then discuss the FRP-faced configuration against that brief. Minimum quantity, sample cost, processing scope and delivery timing require quotation-specific confirmation.

Use the drawing-led RFQ checklist to keep revisions consistent, and review joints, fixing and sealing coordination before finalising interfaces. Send your fabrication requirements to Banarta.

Copy this bulk enquiry template

Copy the text below into your enquiry and replace the brackets with your requirements. Keep unknown items marked “to confirm” so they are resolved in the quotation.

Subject: FRP-faced XPS panels — supplier qualification enquiry

Please distinguish component data from results for the bonded panel. Identify the tested construction, processing scope, deviations, minimum order, sample terms and production lead time for the proposed supply.

Send this enquiry to Banarta. Include your drawing or model schedule with the same revision used for sample approval.

For camper and caravan fabrication, use the wall, roof and floor panel procurement guide to build a component schedule and distinguish installed panel mass from the sheets purchased.
