XPS Tile Backer Boards

Cement Fiberglass Faced XPS Foam Backer Board

XPS foam backer board with fiberglass mesh and polymer-cement coatings on both sides. Confirm board dimensions and the tile, fixing and sealing system for your project.

Reinforced surfaces over an XPS foam core

This backer board uses an XPS core with fiberglass mesh and polymer-cement mortar coatings on both sides. It is offered for tile-backing enquiries where the board construction, support and finishing system are specified together.

Confirm the available dimensions and thickness for the intended wall or floor assembly. The coated foam-core construction should not be confused with an uncoated insulation board or a solid cement board.

Request the current datasheet and test conditions for the selected board. Core properties do not establish the load capacity or waterproofing performance of a complete tiled assembly.

Check the installation detail

  • Support and fixings: confirm substrate condition, support spacing, board thickness and the specified fixing or bonding method.
  • Tile finish: confirm compatible adhesive, tile loading and surface preparation requirements.
  • Wet areas: detail joints, corners, penetrations and connections to the waterproofing system.
  • Heated floors: confirm compatibility with the proposed heating and floor build-up.
  • Enclosures or shaped features: provide drawings and support details rather than assuming any shape or span is suitable.

Use the installation guidance for the matched board and sealing system. The board alone does not make an entire shower, bathroom or floor watertight.
