XPS Tile Backer Boards

Cement Coated XPS Tile Backer Board

Cement-coated XPS tile backer board with fiberglass reinforcement. Confirm board dimensions, adhesive compatibility, support and wet-area sealing details for your installation.

Cement-coated tile backing over an XPS core

This tile backer board combines an XPS foam core with fiberglass reinforcement and cement-based coatings. Discuss it for tiled wall, floor and bathroom projects that require a coated foam-core backing board.

Confirm the coating, board dimensions and thickness together with the specified tile adhesive and fixing method. A cement-coated foam board is a different construction from an uncoated XPS sheet or a solid cement board.

Request the current datasheet and test conditions for the selected board. Material properties alone do not confirm the load capacity or waterproofing performance of a complete tiled assembly.

Surface and installation checks

  • Adhesive: confirm compatibility with the coating and tile finish.
  • Support: specify the substrate, framing where applicable and approved fixing or bonding arrangement.
  • Dimensions: confirm thickness, board size and permitted tile loading.
  • Wet areas: detail sealed joints, corners, fixings, penetrations and waterproofing connections.
  • Floor heating or shaped features: confirm the complete build-up and support requirements.

Follow the matched board and sealing-system instructions. The surface coating does not remove the need to detail the whole installation, and the board alone does not make a bathroom watertight.
